A One Billion-Dollar Divorce
Dr. Dre and ex-wife, Nicole Young, got married back in 1996, making their time together come close to 25 years! Despite their decades-long marriage, it seems as if the couple had enough and officially called it quits this past July 2020. TMZ had broken the news regarding the duo’s split, claiming that they had listed their date of separation as March 27, 2020, and cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason behind the breakup. Considering Dr. Dre is worth a whopping $820 million, his finances were the first thing to be brought up.
Dre has agreed to pay spousal support but prefers ay other distribution of his money and or assets should be controlled by their existing prenuptial agreement. Although Nicole Young, who is, in fact, a lawyer, claims she was forced to sign it and witnessed Dre rip it up, however, it appears as if the original in which Dr. Dre possesses still very much reliable and has caused quite a lot of tension between the two.
Nicole believed that after Dr. Dre had ripped up their prenup, that would be the end of that. “Since the day he tore up the agreements we both understood that there was no premarital agreement and that it was null and void,” she said. Now that Nicole Young is no longer legally allowed to 50% of the rap icons money, as declared in California law, she is seeking anything she can get her hands on.
After realizing a prenup was very much there, Nicole Young demanded $2 million per month in temporary spousal support. Young is also seeking $5 million in legal fees and plans on securing her coin one way or another. While the cast is by no means being even close to done, it seems as if Dr. Dre might have to offer an impressive enough settlement for Nicole Young to officially back away.
